Ice coach named

And the new head coach of the Kootenay Ice is......

....Kris Knoblauch.

Kloblauch is a former Ice player (96-99), who has been an assistant coach with the team for the last three years.

Update: the hiring of Knoblauch represents a 180 degree shift in the team's position since May, when they opined in print that he was not ready to be a head coach yet. I'm guessing his readiness to be a head coach increased every time one of the other top candidates accepted a job elsewhere?

A month ago, Chynoweth say Kris is nowhere near ready to be a head coach in the WHL. Now after taking so long to find a coach and not really getting anywhere with the hunt, only interviewed two people, Hamilton goes to Edmonton and he decides now to promote Kris to head coach of the ICE.

ARE YOU FU%$#NG KIDDING ME? I guess we couldnt find a coach who wanted to work for $35,000 a year so we just fall back to the backup plan.

We have a total and complete udder IDIOT running this team here, here goes the miserable downward spiral of the ICE franchise built on success!

Here's hoping things pan out!

Better to know your coaches weaknesses rather than hire the unknown. And building on the legacy of hiring within can't hurt.

yeah and knowing your GM, he wont make a trade to save his life and now has a new coach with no scoring talent to work with. He lambastes him in the media a month ago and now gives him the job anmyways? the ICE are confusing as all hell.

once Big Ed passed away, so too did any success as a team with a gutless GM you have now who wont do anythging to help out his teams chances of ever making it all the way again.

who will they get for an assistant? a junior b or a midget coach who will work for free? hahaha Chynoweth really trully is a terrible GM.

If you go back over a 10 year period, Kootenays success rate is near the top. With two memorial cup appearances and always in the playoffs. As a season pass holder I will take this over whatever bandwagon the above may decide to jump on. George ELL
