It's day 1 of the Memorial Cup.....Gatineau and Kitchener go at it in the opening game tonight at 7pm Eastern.
Kitchener might have a goaltending problem....seems Steve Mason still isn't ready to play, and Josh Unice (who replaced Mason in the OHL playoffs) is dinged up enough that he didn't practice yesterday. If they have to hang the Shooter Tutor in the net to start tonight's game, they might be in trouble.
For another site with very good coverage of the Memorial Cup, check out the special section that the local newspaper, the Kitchener-Waterloo Record, has for the tournament. They have looks at all the teams and all kinds of articles on the tournament. Of course the coverage is heavier on the Rangers than anyone else but that's to be expected since they're the Rangers' local paper.
Back to the WHL, a nice article in today's Kelowna paper about the rise of hockey in California and the increasing number of American players finding the WHL to be a good option.
