Prince George has picked up Portland Winter Hawks castoff forward Matt Sokol and now have six American players on their team. I do believe that ties them with Spokane for most American players in the league.
Slow day today.....the league will announce the players for the CHL-Russia games later today, and there's a rare Thursday night game tonight as well.
UPDATE: I'm far from a Maple Leafs fan, so their struggles this year and fans (and media) calling for the head of G.M. John Ferguson Jr. have not interested me in the slightest. Until now. Ferguson has pulled off his stupidest move yet: he has offered 17 year old phenom John Tavares a contract to play for the Leafs' AHL farm team. Tavares is not eligible for the NHL draft until 2009, and this move - even despite its astronomically slim chances of succeeding - should make Ferguson a pariah amongst NHL G.M.'s. I suppose this would not be that big of a deal provided that the Leafs weren't basically offering Tavares a huge amount of money to not declare himself for the 2009 draft.
If the Leafs want Tavares so badly, then why not just keep Ferguson as G.M. - they'd be a good bet to pick #1 in 2009 anyway in that case.
