Another deal.....this one has Spokane acquiring 19 year old forward (and team captain) Justin McCrae from Saskatoon for 18 year old forward Chris Langkow, 16 year old forward prospect Burke Gallimore, and a conditional 2009 3rd round pick. I would imagine the pick goes to Saskatoon if McCrae plays in the league next year as an overager.
Seems like a lot for the Chiefs to give up for a forward who has never been a point-a-game player in his career. He is a complete all-zone player and obvious team leader but is probably a 2nd line type player on a team like Spokane. On the other hand though, McCrae is the kind of player you win championships with. On the other side of the deal, Gallimore is one of the leading scorers in the Alberta midget league this year and could be a good one for the Blades for a few years.
And in another news item, Tri-City has officially acquired former Seattle forward Radek Meidl. This is not a trade though as they picked him up after Seattle released him last summer. Meidl joins the Ams now after competing in the World Juniors and spending the first half of the season playing in his home country.
