Looking at the rosters of a few teams in action tonight, there were some very noteworthy healthy scratches. In Edmonton, neither Robin Figren nor Matt Swaby were dressed for the Oil Kings, while in Swift Current, the visiting Raiders sat out Jeff May and Ryan McDonald.
There may be perfectly legitimate non-trade related reasons why these players did not play tonight, but it's also not uncommon for teams to scratch players who are on the verge of being traded. Don't be surprised to see Jeff May on his way to Lethbridge tomorrow.....and maybe Swaby might be the guy a team like Vancouver is looking for? And of course Figren is supposedly off to Regina any time now.
One minor deal tonight, Tri-City picks up former Vancouver defenceman Nolan Toigo for a conditional 6th round pick. The Ams do not intend to bring Toigo in to join the team right now but will keep him on their affiliate player list in case of injuries, etc. He'll remain in Jr A in B.C., where he has been since leaving the Giants earlier this year.
