Guess which former WHLer is on his 4th NHL team this month? Yup, Kris Beech. He was claimed on waivers from the Capitals today by Pittsburgh, which means that since January 10, Beech has now been the property of four different NHL teams: Columbus, Vancouver, Washington, and now Pittsburgh.
This is his second stint with the Penguins organization, coming fresh on the heels of his third (very short) stint in the Capitals organization. Since being drafted 7th overall in 1999, Beech has been a Capital, a Penguin, a Predator, a Capital again, a Blue Jacket, a Canuck, a Capital yet again, and now a Penguin again.
Probably not the way his NHL career was supposed to go, after being such a high pick and having such a great WHL career. His skating has always been an issue though and that might be what keeps him a permanent fringe NHLer like this.
Funny though, points-wise he is having what would be his best NHL season, pro-rated of course. He has played 20 games in the NHL this year and has 11 points, a pace which would give him 45 points over a full season.
