Former WHL goalie (Vancouver, Regina, Edmonton, Prince George) Tommy Tartaglione scored a goal in the BCHL last night. This makes Tartaglione the second goaltender who started the year in the WHL to have scored a goal in Junior A this year - David Reekie scored one in the USHL earlier this year.
Or in other words, they've both scored more goals this year than Nick Dietrich.
And an addition to the Kris Beech saga (below) today, thanks to a tip from Gregg Drinnan. Beech's story has taken another strange twist now, as he has twice been denied entry into the United States this week while trying to join the Penguins. Seems he lost his U.S. work visa somewhere in all the moving and paper-shuffling he has done this month, and so he's stuck in Canada (Toronto, apparently) waiting for the Pens to get his paperwork in order before he can get into the USA.
Funny stuff from the Penguins' Ryan Whitney on the situation: "You play hockey, you can get into Canada. America's got no respect for the NHL", and "What's Obama's and Hillary's stance on this? I'll be ready to vote once I hear".
