Bruins-Silvertips trade

From the Chilliwack Bruins site: the Bruins traded 17 year old goalie Luke Siemens to the Everett Silvertips for a conditional draft pick.

On the surface, it looks like a curious move for the Silvertips since they seemed set in net this year with Heemskerk and Simpson. But maybe they want to bring Siemens in to push Simpson for the backup job....it certainly can't hurt, the conditional nature of the pick probably means they don't have to give up anything unless Siemens proves good enough to beat somebody out for a job.

Which U-18 championships will they lose Simpson to?

The tournament after Christmas is an U-17 tournament which Simpson is too old for. And the world U-18's are in the spring and Canada only take players from CHL teams who are out of the playoffs at that point.
