Seven WHLers made the 22 player roster: goaltender Calvin Pickard (Seattle), defencemen MArk Pysyk (Edmonton) and Alex Petrovic (Red Deer), and forwards Brett Connolly (Prince George), Quinton Howdon (Moose Jaw), Brad Ross (Portland), and Jordan Weal (Regina). SJHL star Jaden Schwartz (a Tri-City Americans prospect) also made the team, so eight Western Canadian kids in total out of 22.
WHLers cut from the team were goaltenders Tyler Bunz (Medicine Hat) and Kent Simpson (Everett), defenceman Troy Rutkowski (Portland), and forwards Ryan Harrison (Prince Albert), Brooks Macek (Tri-City), Brendan Ranford (Kamloops), and Mark Stone (Brandon).
There are no WHLers on team USA this year, so the only current WHLers in this year's tournament will be these ones on Canada. There are five incoming WHLers on other countries' rosters though: Matej Bene (Kamloops/Slovakia), Jakub Herman (Moose Jaw/Czech Republic), David Musil (Vancouver/Czech Republic), Nino Niedereiter (Portland/Switzerland), Jaroslav Vlach (Prince George/Czech Republic)
