Red Deer loses Josh Cowen for 4 games.
Saskatoon losses Randy McNaught for 5 games, coach Lorne Molleken for 4 games, and Sena Acolatse, Darien Dziurynski, and Duncan Siemens for 3 games each.
I get that Saskatoon was unhappy about Cowen running their goaltender with seconds left in a game that was well decided. But there's a right way to respond to that, and putting your five toughest customers on the ice with instructions to jump the opposition is not that right way.
Now, for the next 3 to 5 games Saskatoon has lost a good chunk of the intimidation and physical advantages their team enjoyed, and they'll have to dress four rookies, less experienced, or less capable players to fill out the lineup. And of course they will not have Molleken behind the bench for the next four games either.
This could be the break the Rebels need. Not saying it is going to turn the series around but obviously Saskatoon is a weaker team for the next few games than they were in the first two, when the Rebels failed to score a goal in either game.

Complete and utter joke these WHL refs are they took for ever to make a call in Cowen they shoulda gave him a 5 min major 10 min misc a game misc and warned the benches there would be suspensions comming if anyone did anything dirty another thing they goofed up on was not give each team a penalty to start the game from the way the warm ups went where Deagle was being a goof and shooting pucks a Blades players then crashing our crease all game putting stanford in scissor locks etc
CHEAP Shot by Cowen. the blades wedsite makes it look like that was not the only cheap shot the goalie took. Yes the ref's need to control the game more.
Is it me, but the Eastern Confernace seams to have more line brawls than the West.
The refs DID give Cowen five and a game though. Even if it took them a little time to make the call, there's nothing unusual about that when you have an incident like that. They discussed it and made the right call.
As for warning the benches about suspensions, the referees do not have the authority to suspend anyone, so they cannot issue that kind of warning.
I'm old school. I thought it was outstanding that a team stuck up for their goalie after an obvious cheap shot. Doubt any other team will run their goalie through the play-offs.
