Hurricanes-Thunderbirds deal

Second WHL trade in as many days today, as the Lethbridge Hurricanes send overage defenceman Cason Machacek to the Seattle Thunderbirds for a 2012 6th round bantam pick.

The deal helps the overage situations for both Lethbridge, who had too many, and Seattle, who had too few. For the Hurricanes, this probably means their overage trio next year are Cam Braes, Austin Fyten, and Brody Sutter. For Seattle, they now have Machacek and Burke Gallimore, plus Ryan Button and/or Erik Bonsor if they come back, which probably neither of them will.
