Portland has acquired disgruntled Tri-City defenceman Brock Cornish. The cost? A 2008 3rd round bantam pick.
Medicine Hat has finally released their 07-08 schedule today. The fact that the league beat them to it three weeks ago with the release of the complete league schedule apparently has not stopped the Tigers from trumpeting this "release" on their site.
A few Hitmen tidbits from the Calgary Herald in advance of Hitmen camp which opens today. The team's #1 pick in this May's bantam draft, defenceman Austin Madaisky, will be unable to take part in camp due to a broken arm. Too bad, because you always like to see how your top picks stack up against the others in your system. Also in the broken bone department, defenceman Dan Mercer broke his right wrist after a fall while skating on Monday, so he'll be out for a while. And thirdly, overage forward Riley Merkley is said to be considering leaving the WHL for college. (Shrug). Merkley's performance last year left something to be desired anyway. It hasn't seemed like his heart was really in it for a couple years now so this really shouldn't surprise anyone.
