The WHL's 08-09 overager merry-go-round has stopped and discharged one more player at a new destination, as Prince George has acquired goalie Kevin Armstrong from Spokane for a 2009 bantam pick, round not disclosed. UPDATE: it's a 4th round pick. Not a bad return for what was basically Spokane's backup goalie.
I guess Prince George felt their current 08-09 goalie options - Tommy Tartaglione and Ian Curtis - were unpalatable. In fact, since Tartaglione is also overage next year, this move pretty much knocks him right out of the picture since all logic now points to an Armstrong-Curtis tandem in P.G. next season.
Assuming Tartaglione IS out of the picture, the Cats still have room for two more overagers as Armstrong would be their only one at this point. Import Patrik Magnusson is not likely to be back and neither is forward Morgan MacLean, their only other '88 from last season.
