Less than a week after losing their last 08-09 overage candidate, the Thunderbirds of Kent have taken the first step to restocking their roster with some '88s, acquiring forward Devon Leblanc from Prince Albert - who have a glut of potential overagers - for a 2009 5th round bantam pick.
Leblanc is a big body (6'2", 205 lb) who scored 17 goals last year for the Raiders and 15 the year before, which was split between Red Deer and Prince Albert. He has been knocked in his career for not asserting himself every night and not using his size as well as he could, but he should be a useful 2nd line addition to the Birds, where he could pot 15-20 goals.
The move also gets Prince Albert down to five potential overagers from six. Still in the mix in "Hockeytown North" (does anyone even still call it that???) are Matt Robertson, Jared Jagow, Ryan McDonald, Ashton Hewson, and Justin Bernhardt - all forwards.
