Basically, the Ice have triggered the escape clause in their lease again. If their average paid attendance this coming season is below 2800, the Ice will be free to abandon their lease and leave Cranbrook at the end of 2008-09.
That's not to say that they WILL, only that using the clause gives them the option to do so if paid attendance is below an average of 2800 for two consecutive seasons. Last year it was 2770, or an average of 30 fans per game below the required level.
