Everett and Red Deer have swapped overage forwards this afternoon. The Rebels send Clayton Bauer and a 6th round pick in 2008 to Everett for Brennan Sonne and 17 year old defenceman Matt Strong.
Bauer is the best player in the deal, as evidenced by the Silvertips having to give up a good 17 year old like Strong in order to make up the difference between Bauer and Sonne. So the rebuilding continues in Red Deer while the Silvertips try to add a little more punch up front, which Bauer should be able to provide as a decent 20-25 goal guy.
Red Deer still needs to find something to do with Luke Betts, incidentally. He remains suspended by the team after refusing a trade a couple weeks back.
