One trade yesterday in the WHL, the Rebels finally moving the disgruntled Luke Betts to Spokane for Cody Esposito in a swap of 18 year old forwards. Esposito provides more size and toughness to the Rebels lineup; it's less obvious why the Chiefs wanted Betts, who hasn't really proven anything or really found a role in the WHL.
The Chiefs made another move yesterday too, reassigning goaltender James Reid. Reid had been with the team all year but had not gotten even a single minute of playing time.....which makes you wonder why it's the 3rd week of November and he was still there instead of somewhere where he could play and develop. Hopefully he can still catch on with a good Jr A or midget program.
The annual CHL-Russia borefest got underway last night, with the Russkies scoring three unanswered goals in the third period to defeat the QMJHL all-stars 6-4. This was Russia's 4th win in 25 games over five years at this thing....and their 3rd win over the QMJHL in 9 tries.
