Cormier verdict

The verdict is in on Patrice Cormier's vicious hit last week in the QMJHL - he has been suspended for the remainder of the regular season, plus playoffs.

So his junior career is over....now we wait to see what happens next with his pro career. Will the New Jersey Devils try to assign him to the AHL this season and try to persuade the AHL not to honour the QMJHL suspension? Who knows.....

UPDATE: TSN has updated the story, the Devils have said they will honor the suspension and will not attempt to recall Cormier to the AHL or anything else to circumvent Cormier's punishment. They go on to say they hope he will learn a valuable lesson from this. Good on them.

ok, so hes got the year off, and then goes pro after that.

The team he recently got traded to is the one that hurts the most here. They gave up 3 firsts and a couple good players for a few games of Cormier, and that Caron guy who was another world beater at juniors this year.

Alan:

Couple of exciting things happening: Kootenay Ice just snapped a 14 game winning streak, and Everett just won their 12th straight. Would be curious about historical winning streaks in the WHL.

Sssh! We're trying to fly under the radar here in Everett (not that there's much chance of that with a streak like this...)!

At first it was reported that Cormier was not going to appeal the suspension, but apparently he, or his team, IS going to appeal...what happens during the course of the appeal? Does he have to sit out during?
