Lethbridge and Moose Jaw swing a fairly significant deal this afternoon....Hurricanes send overage forward Cam Braes to the Warriors for a 2012 first round bantam pick and a 2013 second round bantam pick.
Yeah, a first AND a second for an overage player.
And that, more than anything, might explain the lack of trades so far. When the Hurricanes can get two primo draft picks for a half-season player, and the Raiders can get a 2nd rounder and a player who was himself a 2nd rounder (Logan McVeigh) for overager Brandon Herrod a couple weeks ago, then what might the price be for a Weal or a Pickard or a Sundher?
Another note about this deal, the Warriors now have no 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round picks in the 2013 draft. They are going to pay a price for that at some point in the future if they don't make some deals next year to reacquire some picks.

So what about the trade of Tyler Vanscourt to Vancouver? That's not important enough to put on your blog?
I think we lose a ton next year and it will be a 1 year turn around where we deal to get some picks back. We do have a couple of seasons to adjust though.
We have a great core of youth and more depth than ever before in the 15 16 and 17 year old groups. I feel we will feel it a bit next year but the turn around will be quick and with a few deals we will have mroe than enough picks to fill the cupboards once again. I don't see this as an issue. Those players are 4 years away from playing in the Whl. Alot can change in 4 years. That is a ton of trading from now til then. We do have a ton of assets returning as well next season with some tough decisions I am sure.
Great position to be in for once.
I do find the price to be cheap for a solid leader such as Braes with the type of experience he has in the playoffs as well.
Great pick up for the team and will fit in nicely.
