A few more moves

Just cleaning up some other roster moves that were made by WHL clubs yesterday. Not trades, but a number of players were released, reassigned, added from junior A, etc:

Released:

 - Everett released '93 import forward Vladimir Dolnik. I believe he is returning home to Slovakia. 5 pts in 27 games in the WHL.

 - Portland released overage forward Dillon Wagner. This move was necessary in order to add newly acquired overage forward Cam Reid to the roster.

 - Seattle released '92 forward Sean Aschim. According to the team, this was done at Aschim's request, who didn't feel he would get as much playing time the 2nd half of the season as he would like. He is headed back to the Saskatchewan Jr A league.

Reassigned:

 - Everett sent '93 forward Matt Grant to the BCHL and '94 defenceman Darian Henry to the AJHL.

 - Prince Albert sent '93 defenceman Mathew Berry-Lamontagna to the BCHL.

 - Prince George assigned '94 defenceman Josh Smith to the AJHL. Smith was Prince George's first round bantam pick, 19th overall, in 2009. I don't think they are giving up on him, just wanting him to get more ice time for the rest of this season than he would get in P.G.

 - Regina sent '94 defenceman Landon Peel to the MJHL and '93 defenceman Nathan Zimbaluk to the SJHL.

Players added:

 - Prince George added '93 forward John Odgers. (yes, he is the son of former NHLer Jeff Odgers)


 - Spokane added '92 forward Dylan Walchuk. Walchuk started the season in the NCAA with Northern Michigan but was another one of the players caught up in the alleged bike theft ring that involved several members of the hockey team - including defenceman Eric Walker, who joined the Vancouver Giants earlier this year after the incident. Walchuk was a point a game player in the BCHL and should be a good addition to Spokane for the next year and a half.


And one other note to pass along, Everett beat writer Nick Patterson reports that the Everett/Medicine Hat deal which saw Reid Petryk sent to the Silvertips for the rights to Miles Koules also includes a conditional 4th round bantam pick which transfers to either team depending on whether or not Koules reports. Presumably this means that if Koules reports to Medicine Hat by a specified date, the Tigers send the Silvertips a 4th round pick. If Koules does not report to Medicine Hat by the specified date, then the Silvertips send a 4th rounder to the Tigers.

This condition is not reported on the WHL site, but is mentioned in the Silvertips release about the deal.
