I see the Cougars' Dana Tyrell wrecked his knee in the Canada-Sweden exhibition game on Friday night and will be out for five months at least. That ends his hockey season and thus his WHL career as well, since he has signed an NHL contract and will be turning pro next year.
You don't have to think about it very long to know how G.M. Dallas Thompson and the Prince George Cougars probably feel about this.....the Cougars weren't going anywhere this season but Tyrell was a very attractive trade target for a number of contending teams at the trade deadline just three weeks away. The Cougars likely could have swapped Tyrell to a contender for some important pieces to help their rebuilding process. But that's all gone now....the Cougars will get nothing for Tyrell and won't even be able to have him in their lineup to help salvage what's left of the season either. All this for an injury not even suffered while playing for the Cougars.
