First, I have at least one answer to the question I posed yesterday about teams that came back from 3-0 holes only to lose game seven. A reader e-mailed me to tell me that in 1989-90 the Saskatoon Blades went down 3-0 to the Lethbridge Hurricanes before coming back to tie the series, only to lose game seven in Lethbridge in OT.
The Portland Winter Hawks have changed their team name....sorta. They are dropping the space and will now be known as the Winterhawks.
Giants beat writer Steve Ewen has a blog piece today in which he says Giants G.M. Scott Bonner is drawing NHL interest and could be in line to leave the WHL for an NHL front-office job this summer. That would be a big blow to the Giants, whom Bonner has built into a consistently strong club since their expansion years.
We won't even talk about how much worse it would be for them if Don Hay left for an NHL job as well.
And still with the coaching vacancies, Regina Pats beat writer Greg Harder says that Michael Dyck has already expressed an interest in the Pats' job (he's a former Pats player too), and that the rumoured front-runner for Dyck's old job in Lethbridge is former Rockets head coach Jeff Truitt.
I'm also hearing something about an article in today's Lethbridge Herald in which several people close to the team take potshots (on the record!) at Hurricanes G.M. Ray Stasiuk over the dismissal of Dyck. The article is not on the Herald's site, unfortunately, but if this is true, then the shinola is probably going to hit the fan in Lethbridge before long.
Oh, and lastly....the finals of the World Hockey Championships are set, with Russia defeating USA and Canada defeating Sweden in the semifinals today. Canada will play Russia for gold & silver on Sunday afternoon. USA will play Sweden for the bronze.

Any thoughts about Mike Williamson possibly being interested in WHL coaching vacancies? If not, does that mean he's still trying to win the lawsuit he was pursuing against regime #2 (the trio)?
