Which brings up the question of whether Michael Dyck is really through as coach of the Hurricanes or not....his contract with the team runs through the end of May, which means he technically is still the coach of the team since he was never fired, Stasiuk simply announced that Dyck's contract would not be renewed when it expired. So, there would probably be no reason why Dyck could not be re-signed now that Stasiuk is gone, and thus remain the coach.
Makes you wonder how much of an effect that Lethbridge Herald article last week had, with the quotes from Rich Sutter and Ben Wright which basically skewered Stasiuk and his management of the club. Was that story the motivating force behind today's decision?
And, as Gregg points out, at this time a year ago the Canes were competing in the WHL finals, and today they do not have either a coach (unless Dyck stays of course) or a GM, so things have obviously fallen into some serious disarray pretty quickly. But perhaps some new faces can halt the dysfunction....
