Trade in the WHL this morning as the Edmonton Oil Kings move 18 year old defenceman Marek Hrbas and their first round import pick (27th overall) to the Kamloops Blazers for Kamloops' first round import pick (18th overall) and a 2012 5th round bantam pick.
Basically the Oil Kings swap Hrbas for a 5th round bantam pick and the chance to move up 9 spots in the import draft. They must have their eye on somebody. Hrbas was the 4th overall pick in the 2010 import draft (right in between Martin Marincin at #1 and Sven Bartschi at #7 amongst WHL picks) and didn't have an amazing season in Edmonton last year, but he was only 17 years old too. If he realizes that potential in Kamloops, this could be a trade Edmonton might regret later.
And from the OHL, the #1 overall pick in the import draft has been traded from the Barrie Colts to the London Knights. London gave up a 19 year old defenceman, plus their own first round import pick (25th overall) as well as 2nd and 3rd round OHL draft picks. So the Knights must REALLY have their eye on somebody.
