Tragic news for WHL fans, as apparently former Blazer and Hurricane goaltender Michael Maniago was killed last night in a car accident in Calgary, allegedly caused by a drunk driver. Maniago was just 20 years old and had opted to leave the WHL this year to concentrate on his schooling.

The name of the deceased has not been confirmed to be Maniago but Bruce Luebke (link on the left) has it on his blog and I have heard from another source as well that it was Maniago. Very unfortunate...

It is now confirmed that Michael Maniago was killed early Saturday morning in the accident.
