Monday notes

One big trade in the league over the weekend, with Prince George resolving the Dale Hunt situation by trading him and a 2010 7th round pick to Everett for 17 year old defenceman Jeff Regier.

This is one of those deals that could work out really well for both teams, if Regier completes his development into a top-pair defenceman in the next year or so, and Hunt can finally realize his enormous potential that made him the 3rd overall bantam pick in 2005.

By now everyone has heard that the Parkers are rattling the sabres in Regina about moving the Pats out of town if they don't get a better arena lease deal than the one they have now. You gotta think this is just a scare tactic to try and bring some public pressure onto the arena people. The Pats are averaging 4600 people a night and the team is a WHL icon, there is absolutely no way the WHL would approve the move of this team. I think they would 'force' the Parkers to sell it to somebody who was willing to keep it in Regina before they would approve a move.

Still with Regina, the Pats want to move their Saturday game against the Broncos to Sunday as so not to conflict with the Saskatchewan Roughriders' home CFL playoff game a few hours earlier on Saturday. The Broncos need to approve the schedule change though.....here's a thought, instead of moving it to Sunday why not move the game time up to go head-to-head with the Riders....sure, the Pats will play to an empty Brandt Centre but the football stadium is only a block away, if they leave the doors open, the Brandt will still sound like a full house....
