The Saskatchewan and Manitoba hockey people have named the 22 players who will make up Team West at the World Under-17 Challenge this year in Port Alberni, B.C. after Christmas.
Only 10 of the 22 players are currently in the WHL, which is unusual - but there are only 13 full-time players in the WHL this season who were born in '92 and are from Saskatchewan or Manitoba so only three of them DIDN'T make this team - Graham Hood and Justin Slobozian of Regina, and Colton Stephenson of Edmonton.
By comparision, there are at least 45 full-time WHLers this year aged 16 who are from B.C. or Alberta so Team Pacific (which will be released soon, I would think) should be chock-full of WHLers and in fact some very deserving candidates won't make the cut. The 1992 age group is obviously a lot stronger in B.C. and Alberta than in the two more easterly provinces.
