First coaching change of the offseason, I believe.....the Edmonton Oil Kings announced today that head coach Steve Pleau and assistant coach Rocky Thompson will not be back next year.
I think this is probably not surprising. Expansion teams should usually be expected to make gains in their 3rd & 4th seasons as their young players begin to replace the league castoffs that came from the expansion draft. But Edmonton was actually better in 2008-09 than they were this year, so you could say they took a step backwards this season.
Wonder who the new bench boss will be....
