If you haven't seen it yet, you need to check out the footage of ex-dubber Evander Kane's fight with everybody's favorite pest Matt Cooke on Saturday. I'm guessing that after that one, Kane won't need to pay for his own beers for a while whenever NHLers get together....and after getting KO'd by an 18 year old rookie, Cooke will be hearing about that for the rest of his career in those on-ice chirp-fests he's always in.
The Western Canadian bantam championships were held over the weekend in Burnaby. In the end, the Winnipeg Monarchs (led by likely top-five bantam pick Madison Bowey) won the championship in double-OT, 4-3 over the Calgary Bisons - who themselves were led by a couple guys who could/should hear their names called in the first round of the draft, Jay Merkley and Morgan Klimchuk.
The host Burnaby Winter Club Bruins (potential first rounder Anthony Ast) finished third, with the North Shore Winter Club Winterhawks (first rounder Nic Petan) in 4th and the Saskatoon Frostbite in fifth/last. The tournament website, with stats, is here....look for a bunch of those names to be called at the bantam draft in just over two weeks.
I also notice that BWC had a 12 year old, Mathew Barzal, on their roster.....that is somewhat rare to see a pee-wee aged player playing major bantam. Not only that, he had 3 points in 4 games. Maybe somebody to watch for the 2012 bantam draft.
Lastly, the rosters for the 2010 Telus Cup Canadian AAA midget championship are set. Western Canada is represented by the Red Deer Optimist Rebels and the Notre Dame Hounds.....lots of WHL prospects on both those rosters:

Where is ND Hound Slater Koekkoek ranked for OHL draft?
I haven't seen OHL Central Scouting's list, but ISS has Koekkoek in their top ten for the OHL draft.
don't pay attention to Iss, they are eastern based and they sold there company this year too.
