Couple trades made by the Pats today, rearranging their blueline. First they sent 19 year old d-man Dallas Jackson to Prince George for a 2010 4th round pick; then they sent 2009 6th round and 2010 5th round picks to Red Deer for 18 year old defenceman Mike Scarborough and the rights to 17 year old defenceman Dominic Perrault. Perrault had been expected to make the Rebels this year but disappointed in their camp and was an early cut there. I guess the Pats will give him a 2nd chance.
Another Rebels note too - with Carolina Hurricanes forward Justin Williams now out for most of the NHL season with an injury, you'd have to think it's even more certain now that Brandon Sutter has played his last game for the Rebels and will instead stick with the Hurricanes this season.
And a sad note to pass along; just 8 days after the Raiders and Tigers held a benefit game in his honor, longtime minor hockey organizer Tony Aasman of Medicine Hat (father of the Raiders' Ryan Aasman) passed away last night. At least he got to live out one of his dreams in his last days, coaching the Tigers for part of that game while his son played for the Raiders in it.
