It's Saturday and I am off to take in Hitmen camp today....I'll have my thoughts on how it went later, along with the usual run of links to news stories around the league. Don't expect anything before late tonight though.
One quick Hitmen news bit; as expected, overage forward Riley Merkley has no-showed the Hitmen camp. He is believed to be leaving the WHL to pursue his post-secondary education. The Hitmen have brought in overage forward Adam Ross from the QMJHL to round out their complement of three overagers, with defencemen Dan Mercer and Ryan Gillen. It remains to be seen whether Ross is good enough for the top two lines, which overagers ought to be in order to stick. Guess I'll get a look at him later today.

what is the process for kids getting listed after rookie camp. A friend of mine said that anyone they are interested in listed would be invited to the main camp. I know a boy who was not invited to the main camp but the chief scout seemed very interested in him and said he was going to follow his progress closely.
Is it different for every WHL team? It makes sense to me if you were going to consider listing a player, you'd invite him to the main camp to see how he does against the vets, correct?
Depends. Especially in the case of a 15 year old, they may think he physically is not ready to go up against 19 and 20 year olds in main camp. You don't want to see a kid get hurt. But that doesn't mean they don't think he has potential to turn into a WHLer some day; they can put him on the list now or just keep an eye on him with his midget team into the season and list him later if he shows good progress there.
Certainly being invited to main camp is a very good sign though if you're an unlisted rookie camp invitee.
