Do or die tonight?

Three of the four 2nd-round series resume tonight - Calgary-Lethbridge, Vancouver-Spokane, and Tri-City-Kelowna. All three series are 2-0 for the higher seed.

Only once in WHL history has a team gone down 3-0 in a series and come back to win and that was in 1995-96 when Spokane went down 3-0 to Portland in the first round and then came back with four straight wins. The feat has also only been accomplished twice ever in the NHL (and the last time there was in 1975), so no doubt Lethbridge, Spokane, and Kelowna know what they are facing tonight. Basically they have to win tonight or history shows they have almost zero chance of coming back to win the series.

Desperation hockey tonight then.....same for tomorrow night when Medicine Hat will be in the same situation in game three against Brandon. For the Tigers it's even worse because four of the last five games of the series (as required) will be in Brandon.

Is the league inordinately top heavy this year?

I agree 2-3 teams- Calargy, Vancouver, and maybe Tri-Cities, by themselves could beat a AllStar team from the rest of the league.
