Friday games

Two huge wins for the Chiefs and Rockets last night, as both those teams have authored quite the comebacks in their series. Both teams lost the first two games of the series to go down into a 2-0 hole, but have since won three straight games (including big game five victories on the road in both cases) to push the Giants and Americans to the brink of elimination tomorrow night in the game sixes.

In the Chiefs' case, their 4th-OT win was the 2nd-longest game in WHL history. Only a game six years ago between Kootenay and Kamloops was longer, by about eleven minutes.

Meanwhile, in Brandon, the Wheat Kings did the expected and completed their sweep of the Tigers with a 6-2 win. The Wheat Kings scored at least six goals in all four games of the series, which means Hitmen goalie Martin Jones' 0.86 GAA so far in the playoffs is going to be severely tested by the Wheaties' impressive playoff offence.

Both Brandon and Calgary should be well-rested for the Eastern Conference final, which doesn't start until next weekend so they both get at least a week off now.
