Kelowna took a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference final series last night, beating Vancouver 1-0 in the worst hockey game I have seen this spring. It was so bad, it almost made me want to switch back to watching the Flames get their asses kicked.
Why do two teams with so much offensive firepower like the Giants and Rockets seem so content in the last couple games to play like they're coached by Jacques Lemaire? The first couple games of the series were entertaining, but the last two were painful to watch from a neutral fan standpoint.
Meanwhile, at the Telus Cup, the Calgary Buffaloes pummeled the Winnipeg Thrashers 7-0 in the evening semifinal last night, so the Buffaloes have advanced to today's final against Notre Dame. Game time is 4pm Mountain; TSN in Canada will be showing the game on tape delay at 9:30pm Mountain tonight. If you want to follow the game live, you can do so at this link. Almost half of the 40 players in this game are property of WHL clubs and I think about 9 or 10 of them (Calgary: Brittain, Collins, Kosterman, Lowry, Lamoureux, Moser, Tot; ND: Benson, Hodder, Moser) are sure bets to be in the WHL next season, so it's a good chance to see some of your team's 09-10 rookies tonight.
