The Bonner brothers birthed a blockbuster this morning.....Kamloops sends 19 year old defenceman Nick Ross and 19 year old forward Alex Rodgers to Vancouver for 18 year old defenceman Curtis Kulchar and three draft picks - 3rd and 4th rounders in 2009 and a 2nd rounder in 2010.
Now, either the price for good defencemen like Ross is not as steep as we've been lead to believe (supposedly it was a first round pick, a prospect, and a defenceman off your current roster), or Craig Bonner got taken to the cleaners by his brother in Vancouver. Granted, Nick Ross has some holes in his game which probably make him worth less than say, a Hickey or a Negrin, but Kulchar is a 4th/5th defenceman at most and those 3rd/4th round picks are going to be at the very bottom of those two rounds since Vancouver will almost certainly be either 1st or 2nd overall when the season is over.
Rodgers is a guy whose game probably hasn't progressed very much in the last year and a half, but he's still a 50 point guy who will be back in the league as an overager. So, I have to be liking this trade if I'm a Giants fan.
